NEA Awards Gina Leibrecht/Filmmakers Collaborative SF Post-Production Grant
We are pleased to announce that the National Endowment for the Arts recommended a $40,000 grant to Filmmakers Collaborative SF to support post-production on Gina Leibrecht and Les Blank’s documentary film collaboration, How to Smell a Rose: A Visit with Ricky Leacock at his Farm in Normandy. In the film, Les Blank, along with co-filmmaker Gina Leibrecht, visit Richard Leacock (1921-2011) at his farm in Normandy, France and records conversations with him about his life, his work, and his other passion: cooking! With the passing of both Blank and Leacock, the documentary has become a moving insight into the lives of two seminal figures in the history of film. Leibrecht notes that, “To have captured this conversation between them on film will serve as a touchstone for filmmakers, artists, and visionaries for generations to come.”
Filmmakers Collaborative SF was one of 817 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant this year.
